‘Power 100’ list names major players in regional constr

Kele Contracting CEO ranks 46th on inaugural Construction Week Power 100 list

Dubai, 27 October 2010
Andrew Elias, CEO of Kele Contracting LLC, has been ranked 46th on the inaugural Construction Week ‘Power 100’ list of the most influential people working in the construction industry across the GCC.
Although the regional construction industry slowed down due to the global financial crisis, it has started picking up again, with analysts expecting recovery to begin in 2011. According to a recent study conducted by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, more than US$ 714.8 billion of construction projects are currently at the design stage or under construction in the UAE, making the country the most active market in the GCC region.

As the regional and global markets begin recovering, Construction Week has put together the Power 100 list, a definitive list of major players in the GCC construction industry, chosen by the Construction Week team after looking at every sector of the industry, from developers to contractors, engineers, architects, designers, material suppliers, even academics and scientists. The team from Construction Week studied closely the work of the companies represented by these individuals, as well as the number of staff employed, revenues generated, profits earned, contracts won and projects in the pipeline. The team further examined the impact of technology and innovation, leadership qualities of company heads, and status in the region and on a global scale, as well as – in some cases – reactions to the financial crisis.
